A haven for independent artists

Founded in 2024, the Ceramic Art Center of Marin (CACM) is a welcoming hub where creativity, growth, and mentorship come together. It's a place where professional ceramic artists and sculptors from the Bay Area and beyond can connect, share, and learn from one another. At CACM, we celebrate the beauty of human expression and offer a vibrant space for intercultural exchange and collaboration.

Whether you're an independent artist seeking room to create or a seasoned professional looking for fresh inspiration, CACM is your haven. Here, you’ll find the support, space, and resources to experiment, hone your craft, and bring your artistic visions to life.

  • The center, which spans 1,500 square feet, is fully equipped to meet the needs of ceramic artists. It features a dedicated glazing room, a spacious hand-building area, ample storage, a gas kiln, and facilities for both low-fire and mid-range firing. The studio also offers Brent wheels, a large Brent slab roller, slip casting pouring table, multiple extruders, a spray booth, a printer, a Cricut, and much more to support artists in every aspect of their craft.

Why we are different

The Ceramic Art Center of Marin (CACM) offers unique, mentor-led programs designed for professional ceramicists and sculptors. We are dedicated to building a mutually sustaining community that fosters creativity, skill development, and collaboration.

  • Instead of offering standard classes, CACM hosts workshops and ateliers led by designated experienced ceramicists who mentor, guide and inspire fellow artists. These mentors share their expertise and provide personalized support, fostering an environment of collaborative learning and professional growth.

  • The workshops and ateliers are designed to encourage experimentation, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas, allowing artists to deepen their skills and explore new techniques in a supportive, peer-driven setting.

  • Our approach strives to nurture a strong sense of community among artists, where learning is a shared journey and each participant contributes to the collective creative experience.

  • CACM also enriches its community through the participation of guest artists and speakers. These visiting professionals bring fresh perspectives and new ideas to the center, offering unique insights into their creative processes and the broader world of ceramics. Through lectures, demonstrations, and special events, guest artists share their experiences, techniques, and artistic philosophies, providing invaluable inspiration to resident artists and visitors alike.

  • The CACM community is connected with the global ceramics network, fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse practices and cultural contexts that shape the world of ceramic art. Events and exchanges are planned yearly and allow CACM members to look forward to meeting and visiting peers in another setting.

  • The Ceramics Cultural Center of Marin (CACM) offers different levels of membership to accommodate the diverse needs of artists. Below are some suggested membership tiers, each offering different levels of access and benefits.

Beginners, intermediate artists, and children will find a welcoming environment at our other studio, the Terra Linda Ceramic Artists.

The TLCA studio located in San Rafael and under the directorship of Nadia Tarzi-Saccardi since 2017, offers a variety of classes tailored specifically for beginners, intermediate levels and young artists, providing a nurturing space where you can learn the basics of ceramics, develop your skills, and ignite a passion for the art form. With the help of an experienced instructor and a supportive community, TLCA is the perfect place for aspiring ceramic artists of all ages to start their creative journey, while CACM remains focused on supporting the advanced needs of professional ceramicists and sculptors.
